Can I sign up through the App?
The SOL app is for viewing and downloading lessons only. To sign up please click here and download our app once you have signed up through our website. Login to the SOL app with your login details.
Can I download the SOL app to my MacBook Air?
No. MacBook users should view SOL on the website. iOS is not the same as MacOS. The app only works on iOS and Android (i.e. mobile devices). All other users should use the website
I have issues with the app not working.
We make regular updates on our app. Please make sure you have the newest version, this can be updated on the google play store or the app store.
How do I sign up for the free trial?
When signing up for your subscription, select 'I have an access code' and in the text box enter 'FREE1DAYTRIAL' to sign up for your 1 day free trial.
I am having issues with watching the lessons on my phone.
If you are using the SOL website through a mobile phone, we recommend you download the app to watch the videos.

We are currently experiencing a small issue with Samsung phones accessing the lessons but expect this to be resolved soon. In the meantime, lessons can be viewed on all other devices.
I cannot get a lesson to load.
If a lesson is not loading, please try signing out and signing back into your account.
If you are still having issues with the lessons, please send us a message through the ‘Contact’ tab on the home page, detailing the subject and lesson name that is not working.
It is not allowing me to add another device.
You are allowed two devices per account. To add another device, go to My Account then Devices. Delete the devices there and start using your new device. All devices register, or re-register, automatically.
What happens if I sign up for the wrong lessons e.g. primary rather than secondary?
That’s no problem. Simply go into your ‘subscriptions’ in your SOL account and change these over. Please note that when you change you cannot change back for 4 months.
I have forgotten my password. How do I reset it?
Simply go to the ‘sign in’ page and click ‘forgot my password’. You will be asked to add in your email address, and you will be sent a reset link. You must have a live email address for this to work. Please ensure you are entering the correct email address.
A message has popped up to say I have too many devices. How do I delete one?
You can use 2 devices on each subscription. If you want to introduce a third device, you must delete one of the previous ones. To do this, simply sign in, go to ‘my account’, click ‘devices’, and delete both the devices there. Any new devices will register or re-register automatically when you start using them.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Simply sign in, click ‘my account’, click ‘subscription’, and click the cancel button. Alternatively, email info@scottishonlinelessons.com to cancel
Can I cancel my subscription at any time?
Yes, you can cancel at any time. Simply sign in, click ‘my account’, click ‘subscription’, and click the cancel button
I currently have a primary subscription. Can I add a secondary subscription on the same account?
Yes, although you will still be limited to just 2 devices on the subscription. You can change your subscription by going to your account and selecting the 'Subscriptions' tab and selecting change subscription. From here you should be able to change your subscription and select ‘Primary & Secondary Annually or Monthly'.
Can I view the lessons before I decide to buy them?
Yes, you can take a free 1 day trial. When signing up for your subscription, select 'I have an access code' and in the text box enter 'FREE1DAYTRIAL' to sign up for your 1 day free trial.
Will my subscription automatically renew?
Yes, your subscription will continue to renew until you cancel it.
Can more than one child use one subscription?

Do you have S1/S2 lessons?
Yes, All S1/S2 lessons are on the website and available for you to enjoy!
Do you have higher lessons?
Yes, all higher lessons are on the website and available for you to enjoy!
Do you have S3 lessons?
S3 will be covered between the Broad General Education S1/S2 lessons and National 5 lessons.
What levels do you offer at Primary Level?
We offer Literacy and Numeracy from P1-P7.
What secondary subjects do you offer?
Maths, Applications of Maths, English, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, History, Modern Studies, Geography, Business Management.
Will more secondary subjects be added to SOL?
Yes, over time we will add more secondary subjects. We recently added Applications of Maths at Nat5.
Who created the SOL lessons?
All lessons were created, and are explained, by specialist teachers teaching in schools in Scotland.
My child is neurodivergent. Can they still use Scottish Online Lessons?
Yes. When we created SOL we took advice from teachers, children’s charities and other educators about how we could make SOL more inclusive. Our careful use of spacing, fonts and font sizes, and colours, ensure that Neurodivergent children and young people can access them.
I am home educating my children. How can SOL work for us?
SOL is a fantastic tool for home educating. Lessons are in sequence and are grouped together by levels. Young people can work through the lessons at their own pace and in an environment that they are comfortable in. Many of our group sessions in SOL Tutoring are aimed at helping parents structure the week for home educating. Over 20 Scottish Councils also use SOL to support children and young people who can’t attend school for a variety of reasons and are learning at home.

If I choose the £15 per month option, am I committed for a year?
No, you can stop your subscription at any time.
How much do SOL Lessons and SOL Tutoring cost?
For just £15 a month (that you can cancel at anytime), you get all 10 secondary subjects lessons. Subjects are Maths, Applications of Maths, English, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, History, Modern Studies, Geography, Business Management. If Primary, you get all Literacy and Numeracy lessons from P1-P7. If you still need support after the lessons, you can book a 1:1 session with a tutor for 20 minute (£26), 40 minutes (£32), 60 minutes (£42). We also run many group sessions to support young people, and these are just £25 each for an hour.

How to Join a Tutorial?
If you’ve never used Teams before, don’t worry—getting started is easy.
Step 1: Access Microsoft Teams
You can join your session in one of two ways:
Using a computer: Click the session link we provided. It will open in your web browser. You can either join using the web version or download the Microsoft Teams app for the best experience.
Using a Phone or Tablet: Download the Microsoft Teams app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android). You don’t need to create an account—just click the session link, and it will open in the app.
Step 2: Joining the Session
Click the session link at the scheduled time.
If prompted, select “Join as Guest” (or log in with a Microsoft account if you have one).
Enter your name and click Join Now.
Wait for your tutor to admit you into the session.
How does your online tutoring work?
If you’re struggling with a lesson, or need general support, you can book a tutor with one of our fantastic SOL Tutors. Simply choose the subject you need, see the available tutors for that day, select a time that suits you, then confirm your booking. When you have made the payment, you will receive a confirmation email with a Microsoft teams link. When it is time for your session, all you need to do is click the link and the tutor will admit you to join the call.
What subjects do you offer tutoring in?
We are currently offering tutoring in all our 10 online secondary lesson subjects: Maths, Application in Maths, English, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, History, Geography, Modern Studies and Business Management. We also provide tutoring for all levels in Primary school.
Who are the tutors?
Our tutors are primarily qualified teachers, although some may be in teacher training.
Can I request a specific tutor?
Yes, you can request a specific tutor.
How much does it cost for a tutoring session?
The costs for a tutor session will vary depending on the length of session you choose.
20 minutes: £26
40 Minutes: £32
60 Minutes: £42
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule my session?
If you need to cancel your session, go on to your ‘subscriptions’ page in your ‘my account’ page, go to the session you want to cancel and click cancel session. If you want to reschedule your session, follow the steps previously and then re-book for your desired time slot.
Will I be charged if I cancel my sessions?
You will receive a full refund if you cancel 24 hours or longer before the booked session. If you cancel on the day of your sessions, you will get a 50% refund.
What happens if I can’t find a tutor for the time I need?
You can view all the tutors and select a time and date when a tutor is available. If you need a specific time when there are no tutors currently, contact info@scottishonlinelessons.com and provide the subject, year group, date and time you need, and we’ll try to help
Do I need to have any apps installed or accounts created to join my session?
It would be beneficial to have the Microsoft Teams app downloaded with a Microsoft teams account.
What should I do if I experience any technical issues during my session?
If you have any technical issues during your session, please contact info@scottishonlinelessons.com and we will be there to help solve the problem as soon as possible. Whilst you wait, please ensure you have downloaded Microsoft Teams.
Is online tutoring safe for children?
Yes. All SOL Tutors are PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) registered, which means they have an up-to-date police check completed. All our tutors are also fully vetted, where photographic ID has been checked and verified
How often can I change subjects?
You can change subjects as often as you like. Simply book the subject you need when you need it
Will I need to have upfront payments or block bookings?
No. With SOL there are no upfront payments or block bookings. Simply Pay as you Go whenever you need a tutor
Why do I need to sign up for SOL lessons before I book a tutor?
Having SOL lessons may mean you don’t need to book tutors at all! For just £15 a month you have access to 10 secondary subjects at all levels or have all primary lessons from P1-P7. Our tutors also have access to SOL lessons, so if you still need support after going through the lessons, you can book a 20-minute session then pinpoint and get straight to the where you need more support
